Of course when you reach UK you need to let your Hospital know at your earliest that you have arrived. You don't need to land and reach at the hospital but at your earliest convenience email the hospital personnel that has been communicating with you that you have arrived briefly inform about your schedule if you have previously not discussed, whether you will be going for GMC ID check directly or not. So once you have rested at your accommodation it's finally time to enter the hospital you will be working at.
Chances are you must have been sent an email where and when to meet the MTI coordinator of the hospital. So stick to the plan if you aren't able to please email them well in advance so they can make the necessary arrangements. Reach well before the time, dressed in a formal attire. Avoid coats, decent dress shirts, pants/skirts will do unless specifically mentioned. Ties are also discouraged for doctors because they can be source of infection so avoid those. Remember first impression is the last impression. If you can't figure out the directions do politely ask someone. Once you reach the designated person greet them, introduce yourself to them. The coordinator may give you an intro or guide you to their senior in command. Some of the things that have to be sorted before you begin are
- Paperwork: You will be asked to fill in a few paper work for ID badge, IT access and other stuff.
- ID Verification: They will need your ID documents Passport, BRP. If you haven't gotten your BRP let them know that you will collect and drop by to get it verified.
- GMC Registration: They will want to know about your GMC ID check because you cannot start work without.
- Health check up: You will get booked in to see the Occupational Health staff for your health checkup and blood test
- Contract / Employment letter : You will be given this to verify your employment and if you can ask them they can mention the address you are staying at which can double as an address verification.
- Open bank account
- Trust Induction: It is an Introduction to the Trust how things run you will booked for it. It's mandatory to attend
- Any other formalities that your Hospital wants to get done. Paperwork/training/skills etc.
Once you get done with all this you will be ready to start work. Good luck!
