Huge gaps in the NHS are largely filled by foreign doctors who often come into the system and expected navigate and thrive in the NHS without a proper introduction to the actual medical management. Most trusts have a so called induction but that is concerned with the general stuff and doesn't actually prepare doctors whats actually waiting for them when they start their on calls.

They are now offering a new course that will be held on a bi-tri annual basis. This course is a 2 day program aimed at doctors who are new to the NHS or restarting clinical medicine or just want to refresh or increase their knowledge. Consultants from medical specialities will be delivering presentations in their chosen fields including cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, renal, acute medicine, endocrine and intensive care medicine. The main aim is to get doctors acquainted with most common medical emergencies and their clinical management so that they can can feel more confident and comfortable when they face these situations during their on calls.
