Getting a cheap automobile insurance (part II)

In the earlier article I mentioned what factors play a role in determining your insurance quote (Read here). In this blog post I am going to give you 5 tips to get yourself a cheaper insurance quote.

In order for you to be able get an exact and a cheap code you need to know the registration number and the market value of the car you plan to buy. You can proceed without the registration number as well but for that you will need to know the model, make, engine type, transmission and whether it's a petrol or diesel car. Once you have the details head over to Confused.com and enter your car details.
It will than ask you whether you will be be the policy holder or not. Select yourself. Then it will ask further details about you. Address, since when have you been living in UK your occupation. When it's asks you for the license type enter if you have provisional, full or international. There are two types of International licenses exchangeable or non exchangeable if you want to know whether your license is exchangeable or not go to this website https://www.gov.uk/exchange-foreign-driving-licence
Pakistan international license is non exchangeable.
Once you have completed the other queries on the form press next it will ask you what kind of coverage you need select comprehensive. Set your voluntary excess, mileage and details about your car park. On completion make your account and you will be given multiple quotes which are all going to be quite cheap. Select the cheapest option which is mostly likely going to be Admiral. Head over to its website and enter the details in the similar way and you are going to get a quote with two options both of which are going to be less than the ones confused.com showed you. The reason? Insurance companies own site will always give a quote lower than comparison sites in order for you customers to purchase premiums directly from their site unless comparison websites are running some promotional discounts. That's your tip#1 of getting a lower quote tip
Tip #2
Your insurance premium quotes changes on daily basis. So avoid purchasing premiums on weekends it will always be expensive compared to the weekdays.
Tip#3
When to start your coverage determines how expensive or cheap of a quote you can get. If you want to get your coverage within in a day of purchasing, you might be getting a higher rate. Try giving some gap between purchase and coverage starting date.
Tip#4
Create multiple quotes on different days with slightly different variations in few options like coverage date, add or remove drivers (make yourself primary or secondary driver), changing voluntary excess. And make sure you save those quotes which will help you get the cheapest quote possible.

Tip #5
In order to get the lowest possible quote you need to get a higher quote. Doesn't make sense? It will in a minute. For mileage if it's 10,000 for you then write 15,000. For voluntary excess put 0. Car park details if you are going to park in a secured area write in an unsecured/road parking. Now when you get a quote it's going to be quite high. That's good. Save the quote. Come back to this quote the next day and edit that quote and put in your original details that you were supposed to be inputting. If you have been driving in your home country on a full license then you can switch the license type to non EAA license and you can write in for how long you have had the license, the longer it is the lesser you might have to pay. Now when you request your quote voila! It's going to be significantly low. Try these tricks on your other saved quotes and beat the insurance companies at their own game. Now for some users it might not give a big difference but nevertheless anything that is better than nothing. This works best with Admiral. Admiral will also give you another quote which will be slightly cheaper than your already cheap quote but there is a catch. It's comes with a box (Littlebox they call it) that needs to be attached to your car dash and detects everything from your car speed to gear changes, braking, mileage, sharp turns. It's basically a black box designed to record and  assess how safe of a driver you are. You insurance may come down further if they assess you are a pretty safe driver.
But the huge downside is if they detect your aren't as safe as they would like you to be you may get a rise in your insurance premiums. New drivers in UK, learners may want to steer clear from this since they are new to UK roads they are bound to make mistakes although Admiral claims they do not take one off mistakes into account rather looks for an overall driving pattern but even then why risk getting a permanent hike in insurance.
There you go, my 2 cents on getting a cheap insurance quote but remember it may all boil down also to the car you are purchasing.
